Rogue Earns Top Safety Pick Rating From IIHS
Is the Nissan Rogue a Safe Vehicle?
Considering that vehicle technology and engineering has advanced so much over the years, you might think that there is really no difference from vehicle to vehicle in terms of safety. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. Some vehicles are safer than others.
How can you tell? Well, sometimes the aspect of a vehicle’s safety that is more important to you might be the safety systems that it comes with. For instance, if you feel like you have peace of mind when driving a vehicle with a blind spot monitoring system, then that might be what matters most to you when it comes to safety. That said, in the event of a crash, there is scientific data to point to which vehicles stand out from others.
IIHS Safety Rating
This is thanks to the work of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, or IIHS. The IIHS puts new models through a series of collision tests to determine how they perform in order to keep vehicle occupants safe. A full crashworthiness assessment consists of four head-on collision tests, two side collision tests, a roof strength test and a test of the head restraints/seats. A full rating might also include an assessment of the child restraint system, seat belts and crash mitigation system, which are those advanced safety systems we mentioned above.
As we said, some vehicles are safer than others, and the IIHS shows this. Vehicles that earn the best ratings in an IIHS assessment will receive either the Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ designation. In the case of the 2023 Nissan Rogue, the model was named a Top Safety Pick, earning the highest rating possible for numerous tests, including most front collision tests and the roof strength test.
