What is the Nissan Auto Hold Feature?
Always the innovator, Nissan is known for making its state-of-the-art features and technology systems as accessible as possible. This is especially true when it comes to safety and driver assistance. Of course, with the seemingly endless lists of features and technology systems in our cars these days, it can be nearly impossible to keep track of them all. For instance, what is the Nissan Auto Hold feature? As always, our team at Rairdon’s Nissan of Auburn has everything you need to know about the Auto Hold function, so keep on reading below!
Everything You Need to Know About the Auto Hold Function
An extension of the electric parking brake, the Nissan Auto Hold feature provides its owners with more convenience and extra safety. For instance, it stops your car from accidentally rolling away whether it’s standing still or setting off. This is accomplished via the vehicle’s ABS/ESC hydraulic unit. Every time you brake your car to the point of a standstill position, the Auto Hold feature retains the last-applied level of braking pressure, thus keeping your car where you want it to be.
Better yet, you can comfortably take your foot off the brake with peace of mind that all four-wheel brakes will stay on. As if that wasn’t enough, every time the wheel speed sensors of the auto-braking system detect any unwanted rolling, braking force is automatically applied and accordingly increased until the car is completely still once again. Then, when you’re ready to get rolling, as soon as you press down on the accelerator—and, in the case of manual gearboxes, release the clutch—Auto Hold reduces the braking pressure.
In short, Auto Hold is one of those wonderful features that we don’t often think about, but, when we do, we can’t help but to be wowed by its convenience, simplicity, and efficiency. With it, our everyday driving experiences are a whole lot safer, easier, and simply better overall. Thank you, Nissan!
