EVs, crossovers, and SUVs receive plenty of attention from automotive journalists these days, but The Detroit Bureau took time to remind people that the mid-size sedan still fills the needs and desires of many households, to which they held the Nissan Altima as a shining example.  Rairdon’s Nissan of Auburn wants to give you some examples of what they have to say.

The 2023 Altima SR was the subject of their review.  In their overview, they summed it up this way: “The clever packaging and the smart design make it a worthy competitor of traditional rivals in the midsized segment such as the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata, all of which get routinely get high marks from satisfied customers.”

Sleek With an Aggressive Face

While taking time to describe the exterior as sleek with “an aggressive face”, they spent more time on the interior. “The Altima is surprisingly spacious and comfortable both on longer drives and while running errands. The cabin is also well furnished with a nice mixture of texture and materials that create a luxurious ambiance around the driver while making room for storage and easy-to-access cupholders.”  They go on to praise the 12.3-inch touchscreen and that the car is quiet enough that you can really appreciate the nuances of the Bose audio system. The diver’s visibility also received high marks.

Performance That Backs the Looks

After describing the Altima’s 237-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine and CVT, they state, “the on-road performance of the Altima was excellent” and describe the chassis thusly: “The sporty suspension on the Altima SR lines up well with performance, giving the car a solid feel over different road surfaces and it hugs the road going around curves. It also (has) accurate steering and nice solid brakes.“

While they acknowledge that the Altima is not a vehicle that will turn heads, they describe it as a good value that can handle everyday commuting and still do quite well on long trips.
