World’s First Production Variable Compression Turbo
Nissan will be introducing innovative new technology with the introduction of their next generation Nissan Altimas. Two completely new engines will be introduced for the upcoming model change. Both engines are designed with short profiles and low engine mounting to complement the new lower and wider exterior design of the Altima. This includes a lower hood and cowl, which contributes to a reduction in vibration and noise levels.
“With its long list of Nissan Intelligent Mobility features such as ProPILOT Assist, this all-new 2019 Altima is the most advanced sedan we have ever built,” said José Muñoz, chief performance officer, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “Yet not to be overlooked is the groundbreaking technology under the hood – two new engines that power the Altima’s balanced, confidence-inspiring driving experience.”
A new 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine will be the standard on the 2019 Altimas. The new engine offers additional horsepower and vastly improved fuel efficiency.
The real innovation will come from an all new 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine. This will replace the 3.5-liter V6 while still offering comparable horsepower and torque. With the four-cylinder turbo option the 2019 Altima will be able to offer similar power as a V6 with much better fuel economy.
This is the world’s first production Variable Compression Turbo. This will offer extremely efficient fuel economy, while delivering lots of power when needed.
