The Nissan Frontier Diesel could be a reality sooner than we thought

It’s amazing sometimes how quickly things come together in the automotive world. Just last month we told you about a rumor we heard about the Nissan Frontier diesel possibly becoming a reality. Just one short month later, the Nissan Frontier Diesel made its appearance at the Chicago Auto Show. And while it was displayed as a “project model,” we have to assume that there’s a good chance of it becoming a reality.

So the question has to be asked – what will be the Nissan Frontier Diesel release date? We’re guessing the truck will be listed as a 2015 model. But we all know that the 2015 model vehicles typically come to be in the 2014 model year a lot of times. So could we be seeing the Nissan Frontier Diesel this year yet?

It’s not likely the Nissan Frontier Diesel release date will be in the 2014 model year. We say this because of the fact that Nissan is releasing the vehicle as a project vehicle for right now. This means the company is gauging interest in the model before actually producing it. But if we had to judge by the interest in the Nissan Titan Diesel, then we would bank on it becoming a reality. So that might put the new Frontier into 2015 and maybe even the 2016 model year.

As for what we know for sure about the Frontier diesel – it will have a 2.8-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. This engine is expected to produce an impressive 200 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. With those awesome numbers, we’re confident this will happen.
