Next 370Z could have multiple new engine options

December 4th, 2014 by

We’ve always found the Nissan 370Z to be an intriguing vehicle. While it isn’t the extreme supercar that the Nissan GT-R is, the 370Z certainly has some qualities that attract sports car enthusiasts everywhere. Obviously, the design of the vehicle makes it a top choice for those looking for something that will turn heads. But what is under the hood is pretty impressive in its own right. And speaking of what is under the hood, we heard a pretty intriguing rumor recently. It’s possible that there will be multiple engine options on the 2016 Nissan 370Z.

Engine options on the 2016 Nissan 370Z

If you know your Nissan history, then you might be wondering how Nissan plans to label the vehicle if it offers more than the standard 3.7-liter V-6. Because, you see, the name “370Z” was a tip of the cap to the displacement on the 3.7 six-cylinder. And a different engine would clearly have a different displacement figure. One of the rumors floating around is that the car would simply be referred to as the “Z.”

So what engine options can we actually expect on the new 370Z? It would seem that Nissan execs have no plan to get rid of the six-cylinder version of the car, so that’s good news to all enthusiasts. But in order to get better fuel economy and appeal to a worldwide audience, it would appear that the 370Z will be receiving some additional four-cylinder engine options. Product Chief Andy Palmer hinted that the car would employ a “downsized four-cylinder turbocharged engine.” But whether that means a single new engine option, or many more, remains to be seen.

As always, keep it tuned here for the latest Nissan information – including what we can expect from the new 370Z in terms of engine options. We are certainly excited to see what the future may hold for one of our favorite, affordable sports cars.
