2014 Nissan Rogue vs 2014 Toyota RAV4

We’ve talked about the new Nissan Rogue a lot on our blog. And it makes sense, as the Rogue has been completely restyled for the 2014 model year. But while we could sing the praises of the new Rogue all day, many people still want to see how it stacks up against the competition. And why not take on one of the toughest competitors in the segment? This leads us to our comparison of the 2014 Nissan Rogue vs 2014 Toyota RAV4.

Fuel Mileage – Rogue 26/33 – RAV4 24/31

Fuel economy is something that is important to basically everyone that drives a vehicle – especially families that are the target market for the vehicles. With a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, the new Nissan Rogue wins in this category. Even though it is only 2 mpg ahead of the RAV4, those small numbers add up to big results on longer trips.

Horsepower – Rogue 170 – RAV4 176

Fuel mileage is great, but you still need decent horsepower figures to be able to get where you want to go. Both vehicles offer an acceptable range in this regard. While the RAV4 has six horsepower more, this competition is pretty much a wash. And with such similar horsepower figures, the fuel mileage difference becomes even more relevant. The Rogue also offers more torque, at 175 lb-ft compared to 172 lb-ft on the RAV4.

Cargo Capacity – Rogue 70 cubic ft – RAV4 – 73.4 cubic ft

Before you give this one to the Toyota entry, consider that the above figures are maximum cargo capacity figures. But if you want the numbers with all the seats in place, things will shake out a little differently. This is where the Rogue wins, offering 39.3 cubic ft to the RAV4’s 38.4. And the Rogue also features 18 cargo solutions, making it a very versatile choice.

Conclusion:

It’s tough to not go with the Nissan in the competition of 2014 Nissan Rogue vs 2014 Toyota RAV4. Nissan has stepped up its game in a big way for the 2014 model year. Give it a test drive in person at Nissan of Auburn.
